Box Score

RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team had a three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, dropping a 73-44 decision at Franklin Pierce University during a Northeast-10 Conference contest in the FPU Fieldhouse. The Purple Knights slipped to 10-11 overall and 7-10 in the league, while the Ravens improved to 14-7 and 11-6.

Senior Caitlin Quinn (Oakdale, Conn./Montville) and junior Nicole Adach (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) each totaled 10 points for Saint Michael's, with Quinn adding three steals. Senior Coreen Hennessy (Chatham, N.H./Fryeburg Academy) and sophomore Cara Deroy (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) each had seven points, and junior Megan Olsen (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) shot 6-of-6 on free throws, leading her team's 15-for-15 showing from the charity stripe.

Senior Marielle Giroud (Martigny, Switzerland/St-Maurice) had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Franklin Pierce, which shot 10-of-20 from three-point range, and classmate Jewel White (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Brittany Martelle (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) shot 4-for-6 from three off the bench en route to scoring 16 points.

Giroud's hoop 20 seconds after the opening tip gave the hosts the lead for good, as they rattled off the game's opening 19 points during a 4:26 stretch. After Olsen hit a pair of free throws at 14:10, Martelle hit a triple, and the Ravens never again led by fewer than 20 points.

The Purple Knights return home on Wednesday to take on ninth-ranked Bentley University at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons' national ranking is according to this week's USA TODAY ESPN poll. Saint Michael's will host a Think Pink event during the evening men's and women's doubleheader, with fans encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against cancer. All donations will go toward the American Cancer Society.
