WORCESTER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team moved to 2-0 by holding off Caldwell (N.J.) University, 63-59, on Saturday at the Assumption University Tip-Off Classic in Laska Gymnasium.

THE ACTION
- Crews' three-pointer at 16:22 of the first half gave Saint Michael's a 7-3 edge, the first of three four-point leads prior to Caldwell pushing back in front, 14-13, at 10:02.
- Kabimba wrapped lay-ups around a Brown triple during a 7-1 run that put the Purple Knights ahead at 20-15 with 6:17 left, but the Cougars countered with a 15-2 jaunt, and Darnell Evans' jumper made it 30-22 with 1:31 remaining.
- Between Reid's jumper in the final 10 seconds of the opening half and his free throw at 13:30 of the second stanza, the Purple and Gold utilized a 15-2 run to take a 37-32 edge. Reid had six points and Crews five.
- Darnell Evans scored six points in a 10-0 answer by Caldwell before Reid (8:44) and Darnell Evans (8:16) traded go-ahead three-point plays.
- Darnell Evans' jumper had the Cougars up 52-48 with 8:01 to play before five lead changes occurred between 6:56 and 4:33, with Kabimba's baby hook accounting for the final swing, giving Saint Michael's a 57-56 edge. Neither team scored again until the closing 40 seconds.
- After Heber knocked down a jumper with 4:51 left, the Purple Knights limited Caldwell to 1-for-7 shooting down the stretch. In the meantime, Reid's jumper pushed the Saint Michael's lead to 59-56 at 40 seconds, and a missed three-point try by the Cougars was followed by four Purple and Gold free throws in the closing seconds.
