THE ACTION

  • Duniver made three three-pointers in an early 3:11 stretch, with Brzezinski also burying a triple in that time, and the hosts led 14-7 by 14:53 of the opening half.
  • Battle's pair of freebies gave the Purple Knights a 23-14 lead with 10:35 left, and his trey at 8:39 made it 26-17.
  • The Lakers twice edged within five points, including at 29-24 on Bassett's two free throws at 2:20, but Milojevic's three from straight on at the buzzer gave his team a 35-26 lead at halftime. It was his second career three-pointer on just five attempts, including his initial try as a Purple Knight, as the hosts shot 8-of-12 from distance in the opening half.
  • Kabimba (19:45) and Crews (19:04) netted buckets in the first minute of the second stanza to extend the lead to 39-26, and Crews' jumper at 13:52 had his team in front by a 47-37 margin.
  • Wren scored seven points during a 9-0 Laker response, and sophomore Tyson Edmondson's steal and breakaway dunk gave the visitors their first lead, 52-51, with 7:02 to go. That proved to be the first of six lead swings in a matter of 4:50.
  • Bassett's lay-in at 3:16 propelled Lake Superior State to a 58-57 edge, but Reid found Duniver for a corner three with 2:12 remaining for the final lead change, and Reid drained a mid-range jumper near the end of the shot clock to make it 62-58 with 1:13 to go.
  • Reid rebounded a missed Laker three and knocked down a pair of free throws at 36.5 seconds to create a six-point lead. Crews and Duniver added two more freebies apiece down the stretch, capping the game-ending 11-0 run. Saint Michael's held the visitors to 0-for-5 shooting with two turnovers in that time.
