Women's Ice Hockey Downed by 2-0 Count at Franklin Pierce

WINCHENDON, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team capped a weekend series at Franklin Pierce University with a 2-0 New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) loss on Saturday at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

THE ACTION

  • Mudrak made 19 saves in a scoreless first period, shutting Franklin Pierce out for the fourth consecutive stanza carrying over from Friday. She stopped three shots in succession only 40 seconds into the game.
  • After junior Mary Leys (Newport, R.I./Saint George's School) had back-to-back bids turned away by Hertl around the 15-minute mark, Mudrak posted consecutive stops of first-year Grace Schuck at the other end.
  • During a Raven power play that began at 5:31 of the second period, Mudrak made four stops to keep the hosts scoreless.
  • More than 93 minutes into a scoreless weekend, Franklin Pierce solved Mudrak, with Ruiz going blocker side from the slot at 13:29.
  • The Purple Knights earned a power play with 16:04 gone. Sophomore Angelina Ruiz (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) had a shot blocked early in the power play that led to Jenna Ruiz skating in on Mudrak for a shorthanded bid, but the netminder made the stop. Sophomore Gaby Tribelli (Montreal, Quebec/Dawson College) had a pair of tries denied by Hertl during the woman advantage.
  • Franklin Pierce found insurance at 15:18 of the third period, with Dumond deflecting home sophomore Cailey McLaughlin's pass from the right circle during a power play.
