HANCOCK/RIPTON, Vt. - Three Saint Michael's Alpine skiers cracked the top 20 in the giant slalom while Nordic first-year Declan Hutchinson (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) placed 18th in the mass-start 20K freestyle on Saturday as the Middlebury College Carnival came to an end. Alpine races were held at the Middlebury Snow Bowl, while Nordic events took place at Rikert Ski Touring Center.
TEAM RESULTS
- The Purple Knights were sixth out of 14 schools, totaling 418 points, for the third straight carnival.
- The University of Vermont won the carnival with 1,034 points.
ALPINE
TEAM RESULTS
- The Purple Knight men and women combined for a fifth-place finish in the giant slalom, totaling 280 points to edge Colby College (276) and narrowly trail the University of New Hampshire (322) and Dartmouth College (350).
- Points were doubled for Saturday's event, as Friday's slalom was canceled.
- The men scored third-place points (76), holding off fifth-place Dartmouth (73).
- The women were sixth (64), within range of New Hampshire (70) and Colby (75).

- The Purple Knight men tied Bates College for 10th (42) while coming within four points of ninth-place Saint Lawrence University.
- Hutchinson recorded his second top-20 finish of the year, becoming the first Purple Knight male with multiple top-20 performances since Colin Delaney '13 booked a trio of top 20s in 2010.
