THE ACTION

  • The Purple Knights packed all nine of their goals into a 26:22 stretch between the opening two periods.
  • McFarland tipped home Kantgias' shot from the point during a power play just 2:56 into the contest, and with a delayed penalty pending. At 4:43, Johnson scored during a 5-on-3 power play from the middle of the slot, and Redden made it 3-0 with 7:06 gone by finishing at the left post after Flack sent a behind-the-back, between-the-legs pass from the boards behind the net.
  • Narby found the net from the right circle during another power play at 9:12, and Kantgias picked the upper right corner from the left circle on a power play with two seconds left in the stanza.
  • In between, Murphy came up with a big glove save of Amante's blast from the left circle with 17:01 gone.
  • Redden tallied again 46 seconds into the second frame, one-timing home Rudicus' pass to the right circle.
  • Flack and Redden worked a give-and-go soon thereafter, with Flack taking the final pass behind the left side of the net before wrapping a backhanded shot inside the right post at 3:57.
  • The Purple Knights' final two goals came on power plays, as Kantgias connected from the left circle at 6:19 before Macdonald put home a second chance out front at 9:18.
  • The Penmen converted a giveaway into a quick transition goal just 43 seconds later, as Amante tapped in sophomore Joe Fiorino's pass out front.
