NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team's fourth-quarter rally fell short in an 11-9 loss to Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday at Jess Dow Field during Northeast-10 Conference play.

GAME FACTS

  • Each of the past six meetings was decided by two goals or fewer, as Saint Michael's played on the Owls' home field for the first time since March 17, 2014.

THE ACTION

  • In a high-scoring first quarter, neither team led by more than one goal. Stolz had a pair of tallies, and Fenton's marker with 1:58 left had the Purple Knights up 4-3 after one stanza.
  • Rowe and Murphy exchanged goals to begin the second frame, but Takacs' goal with 8:25 left was the final scoring of the half. The teams were tied 5-5 heading into the final 30 minutes.
  • Rowe's natural hat trick in a 1:57 span of the third highlighted a period during which the hosts held a 5-1 scoring lead, and the Owls carried a 10-6 advantage into the fourth quarter.
  • Stolz and Bush scored 55 seconds apart to make it a two-goal game by 12:08, and Murphy's strike at 2:48 again cut the deficit to two, at 11-9, but the Purple Knights came no closer.
