Box Score 2 COLCHESTER, Vt. - Sophomore Meghan Connor's (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans/Endicott) two-run single capped a five-run seventh inning to deliver the Saint Michael's College softball team a doubleheader sweep of Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field. The Purple Knights won both games in walk-off fashion, claiming a 2-1 victory in game one before Connor capped a 7-6 win in the second contest.

THE ACTION
- The Owls left one runner in scoring position in each the first and third innings before Cherry fanned a Southern Connecticut State player with the bases loaded to end the fourth.
- Sophomore Angelica Johns (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) singled with one down in the fifth before classmate Jenna Hoops (Woodbury, Minn./Visitation School) doubled with two out to put two in scoring position, but the final batter fanned.
- The Owls again left the bases loaded in the sixth before breaking the scoreless tie in the seventh, as Dumont singled through the right side with two out to plate senior Ally Petrella.
- Waghorn led off the home half with a single before Welter doubled her home with two out. Hoops followed with an infield grounder that was mishandled, and Welter scurried home with the winning run.

THE ACTION
- After all of game one's scoring was done in the final inning, the teams continued scoring in the opening frame of game two. Tuscano's two-out RBI double made it 1-0 before Johns came through with a two-run double in the home half.
- The Owls rallied for a 6-2 lead in the third, with Delaporta knocking a tying solo home run before Festa blasted a two-out grand slam.
- The visitors left a runner on third in the fourth inning before another two Owls were stranded in the sixth, with Morey making a nice backhanded pick-up at third base before tagging the bag to end the latter frame. Her diving play for the first out of the seventh prevented further damage in a scoreless inning when Southern Connecticut State left the bases loaded.
- With their team down by four runs, the first four Purple Knights singled to begin the bottom of the seventh inning. Morey beat out an infield single, Hoops singled over the shortstop and junior Sadie Pratt (Dighton, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) legged out a bunt single to load the bags. Hiscock followed by reaching on a single to the right side when no one covered first, plating Morey. Devens' fly ball to left center was dropped, with Hoops scoring on the sac fly and Pratt making it 6-5 thanks to the error. With one out, Connor drilled a single off the fence in left center, bringing around Hiscock with the tying run and senior pinch-runner Courtney Norton (Georgetown, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) with the winning run.
