Box Score 2 CASTLETON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College softball team overcame a six-run deficit to down Castleton University, 7-6, on sophomore Marli Welter's (Madison, N.J./Madison) seventh-inning RBI double during the opener of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Spartan Field. The hosts won the nightcap, 4-3, on a walk-off single.

THE ACTION
- Hiscock and Devens singled back-to-back to begin the game before being stranded.
- Senior Makenna Thorne's two-out RBI single gave Castleton a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the hosts scored five runs on five hits in the second, claiming a 6-0 edge. Three Spartans had RBI hits.
- Connor's mammoth solo blast to left center sparked a fourth-inning rally, as junior Hannah Arruda (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) brought around another run on a sac fly before Hiscock singled into left field to plate two more, making it 6-4.
- The Purple Knights drew even in the sixth, as Devens singled home Sroczinski before Hiscock raced home from third with the tying run when another runner got caught in a rundown.
- In the top of the seventh, Welter's one-out RBI double to center field scored Connor, who had led off with a single, from first base with the go-ahead run.
- Heinrichs and first-year pinch-hitter Blake Riche knocked consecutive singles into center field with one out in the bottom half, and Fac's sac bunt moved the winning run into scoring position with two down. However, Cherry induced a game-ending groundout.

THE ACTION
- Johns led off the game with a double before scoring on Devens' single.
- The Purple Knights left two on base in the fourth, after Connor and Arruda singled.
