THE ACTION
- Three lead changes and two ties took place in the opening 2:50 of the contest, with Silvera's go-ahead jumper sparking a 7-0 run that gave the Owls an 11-5 edge by 16:35 of the first half.
- Saint Michael's twice drew within three points, including when Brzezinski hit a jumper at 13:19 (13-10). His triple had the visitors down just 20-13 with 10:38 to go.
- Southern Connecticut State responded with a 33-10 surge that bridged halftime. Coleman and Silvera both netted eight points, helping the Owls to the first of three 30-point leads.
- Still down 22 with fewer than five minutes remaining, the Purple Knights chipped away from the charity stripe, hitting their final nine free throw tries to edge within 15 points with a little more than a minute to go.
