SHELTON, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team finished a mid-week New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) series against Post University with a 7-3 loss on Wednesday morning at the Sports Center of Connecticut.

THE ACTION

  • Noonan scored just 32 seconds into the contest, putting home a rebound from the slot.
  • Post padded its lead with a pair of quick tallies later in the opening frame, with Terrazzano going five-hole from the right circle with 8:55 gone and Grom converting from the slow slot 38 seconds later.
  • Senior Jenna Abeyta beat Lavender to her glove side with a slap shot from the right circle at 13:38, and Patfield scored on the rebound out front at 18:23.
  • Saint Michael's responded with three of the next four goals to make it 6-3 by the latter stages of the third period.
  • Midway through the second stanza, Kennard forced a giveaway in the left corner and passed along the end boards for Langbacka, whose pass from behind the net into the slot found an unmarked Leys, who finished to Saunders' glove side at 9:32.
  • Grom recorded a third-effort goal with 4:47 gone in the third frame.
  • Langbacka tallied from near the right post at 8:22 after taking Kennard's backhanded pass from below the left circle, and Burns added a goal 38 seconds later, putting home the rebound of sophomore Grace Canterbury's (Eagle River, Alaska/Shattuck-Saint Mary's School) shot.
  • Sophomore Julia Wysocki ended the comeback bid by scoring to Lavender's blocker side from the slot at 14:11.
