RUMFORD, Maine - Sophomore Declan Hutchinson (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) took 20th in the men's 7.5K freestyle on Friday as the Saint Michael's College Nordic skiing team opened the season at the Bates College Carnival at Black Mountain. Alpine slalom races at Sunday River were postponed until Saturday.

TEAM RESULTS

• Combined with the Alpine squad, which had its first races of the season on Thursday, Saint Michael's is eighth among 14 schools with 289 points with one day remaining in the carnival. The Purple Knights are eight points ahead of Saint Lawrence University and 11 in front of Williams College.
