Men's Ice Hockey Loses Exhibition Contest at National Power SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team capped a two-game exhibition weekend with a 12-1 loss at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh on Saturday evening in Stafford Arena. The Cardinals qualified for the 2023 NCAA Division III Tournament and were ranked seventh in the final U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) national poll last spring.

THE ACTION
  • Forselius scored 4:26 into the contest to give the Purple Knights the lead before Lanyi tallied the first of his team's three shorthanded markers 2:21 later.
  • Sophomore Joshua Belgrave scored with 11:40 gone in the first period, Jirousek made it 3-1 at 7:13 of the second, and first-year Aaron Catron added a shorthanded marker 3:58 later.
  • SUNY Plattsburgh pulled away with eight third-period goals, with six on power plays. The hosts scored six times in the final 6:19 of the contest alone.
