COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team lost to Northeast-10 Conference foe Adelphi University, 4-2, during Senior Day on Duffy Field in the Purple Knights' season finale.
 
The Purple Knights honored nine seniors prior to the contest: Madeleine Biondi (Cranston, R.I./Cushing Academy), Paige Brooks (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), Riley Craig (Claremont, N.H./Stevens), Danielle Cummings (Swanton, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union), Mia Gardner (Smithfield, R.I./Saint George's School), Bridgie Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston), Kennedy Richard (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), Samantha Shapiro (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) and Courtney Watt (Auckland, New Zealand/Albany Senior/Vermont).

GAME FACTS

• Loughlin finished her career as the second Purple Knight among the top 10 in career goals, assists and points in program history, joining Seanna Poelaert '00. She ended up fifth in points (85), passing Anne Flynn '92 (84) on Saturday, as well as seventh in goals (34) and ninth in assists (17).
• Loughlin totaled 36 points this season, tying Jilby Danis '04 (2003) for eighth in program annals, while matching Danis (2003) for seventh with 15 goals this fall. In her final six games, Loughlin turned in nine goals and two assists.
• Shapiro's 10 defensive saves this season were one short of Ashley Webb's '07 17-year-old program record, set in 2006. With 13 for her career, she tied Hannah Beardsley '15 for third in school history.

THE ACTION

• Biondi was denied by Galison's defensive save at 4:28 of the first quarter before Loughlin rung the right post with 6:07 gone.
• Loughlin buried a penalty stroke at 12:01 to put the hosts in front.
• Piekaar swept home a shot from the perimeter during a 17th-minute corner, and Rossacci made it 2-1 at 20:27, tapping in a point-blank shot after Seyfarth's backhanded pass from the restraining line bounced over two sticks.
• Adelphi added to its lead when Galison tipped in junior Amanda Lee's penalty corner pass in the 28th minute.
• Lord brought Saint Michael's within 3-2 at 33:16 of the third quarter, pushing home a rebound into the right side of the net.
• Biggin reestablished the two-goal cushion by tipping in another long Seyfarth pass with 48:11 gone.
• Loughlin nearly brought the Purple and Gold closer, but Piekaar backed Montiel up with a defensive save in the 58th minute.
