Women's Soccer Falls to AIC, 3-0, in Final Home Conference Game

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team fell to American International College, 3-0, on Saturday at Duffy Field during Northeast-10 Conference play.

THE ACTION
  • Sophomore Bella DelVecchio (Saugus, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) had a great opportunity on a through ball from classmate Kayleigh Crowell (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) in the 29th minute, but was unable to convert as Avery made a save on the goal line.
  • The Yellow Jackets capitalized on a corner kick in the 35th minute, after Bernard took a shot on the volley that first-year Bridget McLoughlin (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) stopped from going in, but Ryan was able to shoot the lose ball into the back of the net for her first goal of the year.
  • The Yellow Jackets scored their second goal of the game in the 50th minute, when Ferreira played a through ball into Williams, who slotted her shot into the top far corner.
  • The third and final goal of the game for AIC came in the 76th minute when Bernard made a pass through the midfield to a cutting Carey, who sent her shot on net that found the left side of the net.
  • Senior Claire Williams (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) took two shots in the final two minutes of the match but both were saved by Avery.
