THE ACTION

• Watt denied the first four shots sent her way before Moshang broke the stalemate at the eight-minute mark of the first quarter, sending a shot from the middle of the circle that redirected off of a Purple Knight's stick.
• Meij doubled the lead only 2:09 later, tipping a teammate's feed through Watt's five-hole just before the netminder could get a foot on the pass.
• Saint Michael's held a 3-1 shot advantage during the second quarter, including as senior Bridgie Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) had a 28th-minute bid stopped before Sapienza put home the rebound.
• Eshleman padded the lead in the 34th minute, finding space in the circle and drilling a low shot home.
• Watt made 11 of her saves in the second half to keep the Purple Knights within range.
