STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team's big second-half comeback fell short on Saturday in a 101-93 loss at the College of Staten Island in the Sports & Recreation Center. The Purple Knights, whose winning streak was snapped at seven games, received votes toward both national polls this week.

- In addition to receiving national votes toward both national polls, the Purple Knights are third in this week's D2CSC East Region poll.
- Saint Michael's entered the day 3-0 away from home and was one of three remaining East Region teams with an unblemished road mark.
- The teams combined to knock down 29 three-pointers, the most ever in a Saint Michael's men's basketball game. They had played a trio of contests where 28 triples were made.
- The Purple Knights shot 16-for-30 (53.3%) from deep and 53.4% overall.
THE ACTION
- The teams combined to make 17 three-pointer on just 27 attempts while scoring 96 points in a high-scoring first half. After Marold's dunk had his team within 16-13 at 13:53, junior Luis Armas scored five points in a 12-3 run that pushed the Dolphins' lead to 28-16.
- Brzezinski drilled a three with 7:21 left to make it 31-26, and the Purple Knights were down 40-33 on Yepdo's lay-in with 4:53 to go, but Staten Island ended the half on an 18-5 run, with Waterman providing half of the scoring. The hosts led 58-38 at halftime.
- Saint Michael's opened the second half with a 15-3 run, trimming its deficit to eight by the time Brzezinski knocked down a trey with 16:06 remaining in regulation.
- Mallory's dunk with 14:49 to go pushed the Staten Island lead back to double digits (67-57), with the advantage bulging to 16 on a pair of occasions.
- The Purple Knights cut an 87-71 deficit in the final five minutes to 96-91 on Yepdo's triple with 57 seconds left. After Mallory's lay-up pushed the lead to 100-93 with 37 ticks left, the visitors turned the ball over, as Staten Island salted away the victory.
