- Sophomore Zack Whittaker scored the first goal of the contest at 5:06 of the opening period with a wrist shot.
- The second Spartan goal came right at the 11:00 mark off the stick of Stefura on a 2-on-1 breakaway opportunity.
- The lead extended to three for VTSU Castleton at 13:56 when the Trempner scored on a loose puck in front of the net.
- Wracker scored his first career goal in front of the crease shortly into the start of the second period at 2:20 on assists from McCarthy and Ciancio.
- The Spartans responded 29 seconds later when Turrin scored on a breakout play by skating in front of the crease and moving to his backhand to score and push the Spartan lead back to three.
- Dalton scored his first tally at 10:14 by taking a one-timer on a bank pass off the boards from Ciancio and sending the puck into the upper corner of the net to cut the Spartan lead back down to two.
- Junior Romeo Torain and Vyvial scored at 13:58 and 18:10, respectively, to round out the Spartans' second period, extending the lead to four.
- The Purple Knights scored the first goal of the third period at 3:23 when McFarland took Kantgias' stretch pass for a breakaway and deked the goaltender before scoring with his forehand.
- VTSU Castleton scored its final goal of the night at 7:57 as Tanasiyenko scored off the rebound of a Murphy save and slotted the puck.
- Saint Michael's scored the final goal of the evening with 58 seconds left when McCarthy sent a cross-ice pass to Kantgias, who sent a wrist shot past Ward.
