WATERVILLE VALLEY/DUBLIN, N.H. - Junior Simen Strand (Høvik, Norway/Dønski VGS) placed third in Saturday's slalom as the Saint Michael's College Alpine and Nordic skiing team finished seventh among 14 schools when the Harvard University Carnival concluded. Alpine events were held at Waterville Valley Resort, while Nordic races took place at the Dublin School.

CARNIVAL FACTS
- On the heels of winning Friday's giant slalom, the men captured fourth place in the slalom on Saturday, totaling 99 points. They trailed the University of New Hampshire by a single point. For the weekend, the Alpine men scored second-place points (200), behind only Dartmouth (215).
- The women took eighth in the slalom (52), narrowly trailing seventh-place Harvard (55) and sixth-place Colby College (65). They claimed seventh place (96) across both days of the carnival.
- On Saturday alone, the men and women totaled fourth-place points in the slalom (151), short of just New Hampshire (183), Dartmouth (213) and UVM (257).
- The men's and women's Alpine teams combined to total 296 points over both days of the carnival, good for fifth place. Colby (310) and New Hampshire (340) were within range, while Dartmouth (385) and UVM (409) took the top two spots.
- Through just seven races this winter, Purple and Gold men's and women's Alpine skiers have reached the podium - necessitating a top-three finish - six times. Saint Michael's Alpine skiers podiumed four times during the entire 2022 campaign after being shut out in their prior season, 2020. The 2019 squad was the latest to net six podiums, when Guillaume Grand '19 recorded five and Ben Throm '22 had one.
