JEFFERSONVILLE, Vt. - A trio of Saint Michael's College Alpine skiers took top 10 in the slalom during the Saint Michael's Carnival on Saturday at Smugglers' Notch Resort. After Friday's giant slalom was canceled, the slalom was the lone event run during the Alpine segment of the Saint Michael's Carnival, which began with Nordic races on Jan. 20-21. An unattached GS will be scheduled later in the season as a makeup.
CARNIVAL FACTS
- Between Alpine and Nordic, Saint Michael's placed eighth among 14 schools at its own carnival, totaling 399 points to trail seventh-place Williams College by two. Saturday's slalom events counted for double points.
- Both Alpine squads placed fifth in the slalom, with the men netting 71 points to fall only one point shy of Harvard University for fourth. The women collected 66 points to trim the University of New Hampshire by two points for the fifth slot.
- The Alpine teams combined to score sixth-place points (137) in their segment of the carnival, within range of fifth-place Plymouth State University (148) and fourth-place New Hampshire (151).
- The University of Vermont won the carnival with 1,034 points.
