COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to No. 7 Assumption University, 54-38, on Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference play in the Ross Sports Center. The Greyhounds' national ranking is according to D2SIDA, which also slotted Assumption first in the latest East Region poll.
As part of their Senior Day festivities, the Purple Knights honored graduate student Emma MacDonough (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington), senior Meghan Carney (Dracut, Mass./Groton School), and senior support staff members Joe McGrath, Lainie Noble and Nicole Quispe. Fellow seniors Anika Kapral (Dummerston, Vt./Vermont Academy) and Kelly Laggis (Fairfield, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) are slated to return for a fifth year in 2023-24.

- Slaven's three-pointer brought the Purple Knights within 14-12 at 2:26 of the first stanza before Mieczkowski's buzzer-beating jumper had Assumption ahead 18-12 after one, accounting for the largest lead by either team in the opening half.
- Brophy's triple trimmed the deficit to 20-18 at 4:01 of the second quarter, but the Greyhounds responded with an 8-0 run that bridged halftime.
- Down as much as 11 early in the third period, Saint Michael's edged within 33-27 on MacDonough's three with 2:31 to go.
- Assumption scored the next seven points and never again led by fewer than nine points.
