LEESBURG, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball split a pair of shutout contests on Saturday during The Spring Games, losing to Walsh (Ohio) University, 4-0, before downing Alliance (N.Y.) University, 10-0 in five innings, at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.
DOUBLEHEADER FACTS
- The Purple Knights met Walsh for the first time while improving to 6-0 all-time against Alliance, formerly known as Nyack College. The teams had not met since 2010.
- First-year Jamie Hearn (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day School) tossed a shutout against Alliance for her first college victory.

THE ACTION
- Sophomore Jenna Devens (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) led off the top of the second inning with a single before classmate Kaylee Morey (Stonington, Maine/Deer Isle-Stonington) doubled to the fence with two down, but the duo was stranded. The Purple Knights left two more aboard in the third.
- Walsh scored three runs on two hits in the home half, as Mewhinney knocked an RBI double and scored on an error. Bingham was plated on sophomore Kaylee Nolte's sac fly.
- Davidson walked leading off the fifth before Pratt singled, but consecutive batters representing the tying run flew out.
- First-year Laney Ferrance tacked on an insurance run with a sac fly in the sixth.
