LEESBURG, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball team was downed by Slippery Rock (Pa.) University, 2-1, and the University of Minnesota Crookston, 8-4, on Tuesday during The Spring Games at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.
DOUBLEHEADER FACTS
- The Purple Knights lost a one-run decision to Slippery Rock for the second straight year and played Minnesota Crookston for the first time since 2019. Saint Michael's is 1-3 all-time against both teams.

THE ACTION
- Brown walked to lead off the top of the first inning before swiping home - her third steal of the inning - on a double steal.
- Pratt's two-out single through the right side scored junior Marli Welter (Madison, N.J./Madison) with the tying run with two down in the third.
- Fisk scored on a two-out error the next frame for what proved to be the winning run.
- Hearn and Davidson both walked in the fifth before the Purple Knights left a pair in scoring position.
- Sophomore Jenna Devens (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) led off the sixth with a single before Johns walked, but neither advanced as the next three hitters were set down.
- Davidson walked with one out in the seventh, and junior Meghan Connor (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans/Endicott) singled with two down to put the tying run in scoring position, but the final batter flew out.

- The Golden Eagles scored a pair of unearned runs on three errors in the home half of the first inning.
- Senior Haley Waghorn (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) halved the deficit with a sac fly in the second.
- Avalos' two-out, two-run double pushed the lead to 4-1 in the bottom half.
- After leaving the bases loaded in the third, Saint Michael's crept within a run during the fifth inning on Devens' RBI double and Johns' RBI single.
- Minnesota Crookston responded with four runs later in the frame, keyed by Grant's two-run single.
- Arruda's two-out double plated sophomore pinch runner Kiera Parker (Weymouth, Mass./Framingham/Stevenson) in the seventh.
