Hearn Spins Second Shutout, Softball Splits Pair in Florida

LEESBURG, Fla. - First-year Jamie Hearn (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day School) spun her second shutout of the season, leading the Saint Michael's College softball team past D'Youville (N.Y.) College, 3-0, on Thursday during The Spring Games at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex. The Purple Knights lost their opener to Indiana (Pa.) University, 4-3, in eight innings.

DOUBLEHEADER FACTS

  • Hearn's pair of shutouts are already the most by a Purple Knight first-year since Danielle Brown '18 also tossed two in 2015.
  • First-year Allida Kelliher (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) rapped her first collegiate hit in the opener.
  • The Purple Knights slipped to 1-2 all-time against Indiana, with the other loss also a one-run, eight-inning setback in 2017. Saint Michael's and D'Youville met for the first time.
