Softball Downs First-Place Bentley During NE10 Twinbill Split

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College softball team split a doubleheader with Northeast-10 Conference leader Bentley University on Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field, taking an 11-4 victory in the nightcap after losing the opener, 13-0 in five innings.

THE ACTION

  • Krause's RBI single in the top of the first was met by Pratt scoring on an error in the home half.
  • Mankins and senior Jess Trahan came through with RBI singles in the Bentley third inning, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead. With two runners on, center fielder Pratt prevented further damage by making an over-the-shoulder catch with her back to the infield for the final out of the frame.
  • Connor's two-run homer tied the game in the home half, and Devens' double came within inches of leaving the park the next inning while plating Pratt and Morey.
  • In the fifth, Waghorn added an RBI knock before Morey's long RBI double pushed the lead to 7-3.
  • Junior Gabriella Longo homered with one down in the sixth.
  • Saint Michael's pulled away in the bottom half, as Devens swatted a two-run homer, the 15th dinger of her career, before Hearn hit a two-run double to left center.
