THE ACTION
  • Saint Michael's nearly broke through at 7:48 of the first period, as Leys and senior Mikaela Langbacka (Lorton, Va./Washington Pride) worked a give-and-go deep in the Assumption zone, but Langbacka's shot from below the left circle was denied by Weiser's right pad.
  • During a power play early in the second period, Quinn had a slap shot from between the circles stopped, but Leys chipped the loose puck out toward Canterbury, who found a vacated right side of the net at 2:13.
  • First-year Lexi Kirkeby fired a shot from the point with 8:33 gone that Gyurko deflected off of the crossbar during an Assumption power play to keep it 1-0.
  • Saint Michael's made it 2-0 on a power-play strike at 6:23 of the third, with LeBlanc slipping a shot home from below the right circle after taking a quick touch pass from Leys.
  • Walsh found the net at 11:19 off of a rebound, and Hanrahan scored in similar fashion at 14:49, putting in a rebound following Gyurko's stop.
  • The Purple Knights had four good looks during a power play over the final 1:05 of regulation, but Weiser stopped each, including using her blocker to turn away first-year Victoria FitzGibbon's (Stittsville, Ontario/East Ottawa Junior Stars U22 AA) shot from the blue line with three seconds left.
  • Gerebi rung the crossbar only 15 seconds into overtime, and she was later stopped by Weiser at 49 seconds for the Purple Knights' lone shot during a power play.
  • Gyurko made two saves in an Assumption power play that began at 2:54, while sophomore Emersynn McGillis (Ottawa, Ontario/Nepean Jr. Wildcats) blocked one shot during the woman advantage and another with three seconds left to seal the draw.
