Women's Basketball Drops NE10 Contest to Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to Saint Anselm College, 61-47, on Saturday afternoon during Northeast-10 Conference play in the Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

THE ACTION
  • Forbes had a pair of baskets as the Hawks claimed a 6-2 lead by 8:13 of the opening quarter.
  • The Purple and Gold crept within one point three times before the end of the period, for the final time at 10-9 with 5:11 left on a layup from sophomore Julie Lyden (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake).
  • Saint Anselm slowly built its lead to 22-13 on Forbes' layup at 3:53 of the second quarter, and her three-pointer with one second remaining made the score 29-21 going into the locker rooms.
  • Saint Anselm started the second half on a 10-2 scoring run on 4-for-5 shooting to make the score 39-23 at 6:06 in the third period on Forbes' layup.
  • Santos scored six points in a 3:06 span to ignite a 7-1 run to guide the Purple Knights back to within 10 points at 2:20. The Hawks led 46-33 at the end of three.
  • Amber Furch scored five points on two jump shots early in the fourth quarter to shorten the Hawks' lead at 49-38 at 8:31.
  • Robles scored seven points in the final 7:49 of the contest while Santos contributed five points in that span for the Purple and Gold as the Hawks held onto the lead.
