Loughlin Reaches 100 Career Points as Field Hockey Defeats Southern Connecticut State

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Graduate student Bridgie Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) became the third player in Saint Michael's College field hockey history to reach 100 career points in the Purple Knights' 4-1 victory at Southern Connecticut State University on Friday during Northeast-10 Conference play at Jess Dow Field. Loughlin's third-quarter assist got her to the century mark, as she totaled three helpers to finish the day with exactly 100 points.

GAME FACTS
  • Loughlin becomes the third Purple Knight to record 100 career points (100), joining Andrea Slaven '09 (117) and Seanna Poelaert '00 (113). She passed Patty Porter '89 (99) on the program's scoring list during the contest. Loughlin is also fourth in goals (39) and took over fourth in assists (22), climbing beyond Angela Potts '02 (20) on Friday.
  • The Owls held a 30-23 advantage on shots and a 12-11 edge on penalty corners.
  • Harrington became the second member of the squad to notch her first career goal in three games, after Nigolian did so on Saturday.
THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights took an early lead just 1:32 into the first quarter when Nigolian redirected a pass from Loughlin to give the Purple Knights a 1-0 lead.
  • Harrington scored her first career goal in the fifth minute after Loughlin sent a pass in front of the net that Harrington was able to slot into the cage to make the score 2-0.
  • Fiato cut the first-quarter deficit in half for the Owls in the 13th minute after she tapped in a loose ball in front of the cage to make the score 2-1.
  • Lord gave the visitors a 3-1 lead in the 24th minute after taking a shot from the top of the circle.
  • Loughlin notched her 100th career point when her pass during a corner set was deflected home by Harrington in the 39th minute.
  • The Owls threatened numerous times following Loughlin's strike, but Cameron tallied eight saves in the final 16 minutes.
