Women's Basketball Loses Meeting of Regionally-Ranked Teams at Daemen

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost a 67-49 decision to Daemen University on Sunday in Lumsden Gymnasium during a meeting between regionally-ranked foes. The Purple and Gold was eighth in the latest D2CSC East Region Poll, while the Wildcats stood ninth.

THE ACTION
  • Auer put home a pair of buckets at Daemen led 11-2 by 6:22 of the first quarter.
  • Franchi's lay-in cut the deficit to 13-8 by 3:32, but the Wildcats put together a 13-2 run in response. Auer's three-pointer at 5:48 of the second quarter pushed the lead to 33-16.
  • Senior Brianna Furch's (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood School/Cal State Fullerton) pair of free throws made it 38-28 25 seconds before halftime, and Tyler's basket at 8:59 of the third quarter again had her team within 10 (40-30).
  • Daemen slowly built its lead to 19 (54-35), and the visitors never again trailed by fewer than 16 points.
