COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to Caldwell University, 66-62, on Saturday in the Ross Sports Center.

  • The Purple Knights held a 36-29 rebounding lead, including 13-7 on the offensive glass, which led to an 18-7 advantage in second-chance points.
THE ACTION
  • Franchi knocked down a three-pointer at 2:36 of the opening quarter for the fifth lead swing, and Tyler's jumper 44 seconds later extended the lead to 18-13.
  • Lewis canned a pair of triples in a 9-1 response, with sophomore Neysa Aguilar's trey making the score 22-19 at 8:36 of the second quarter.
  • Blake dropped home a pair of baskets during an ensuing 11-2 stretch, producing a 30-24 lead by 4:24.
  • Coogan's personal 6-0 run pushed Caldwell into a 41-40 lead at 4:07 of the third quarter, but Furch's fastbreak hoop 39 seconds later put Saint Michael's back on top, and the hosts extended their lead out to as much as 56-46 on Tyler's three-point play with 5:42 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Lewis turned in seven points in a late 15-2 run, with graduate student Sophia DeMauro making four free throws, including the go-ahead pair at 2:01. Lewis' two freebies made it 65-60 with 22 seconds to go.
  • Franchi's bucket at five seconds cut the deficit to three, but Saint Michael's came no closer.
