THE ACTION
  • Saint Michael's went ahead just 3:23 after the opening faceoff, as sophomore Brayden Naumann (Boston, Mass./Dexter Southfield School) backhanded a pass from behind the net into the slot for Tuite, who found the lower left corner of the cage.
  • Forselius made it 2-0 with 40.6 seconds remaining on a power play, drilling the net from the mid-slot.
  • At 6:25 of the second period, senior Owen Sweet made a nice move in the slot before being denied by a Plunkett left pad save.
  • The Purple Knights added to their lead with 15:01 gone, as junior Ashton Allain (Brentwood, Tenn./Walpole Express) sent a cross-ice pass to classmate and defensive partner Lee, who tapped the puck into an open net.
  • With 32.9 seconds remaining, Plunkett turned away sophomore Hayden Hanes' redirection in the slot.
  • Forselius nearly scored again at 5:14 of the third period, beating the final defender to the net before having a backhanded bid stopped by Fehrenbaker's left pad.
  • Wesleyan earned a power play with 32 seconds left, but two Cardinal attempts in that time were off frame and the third was blocked by senior Jack Macdonald (Baraboo, Wis./Seahawks Hockey Club), helping secure the shutout.
