HANOVER, N.H. - First-year Henrik Wist (Trondheim, Norway/Heimdal VGS) became the first Saint Michael's College Nordic skier in 28 years to win a race on Saturday during the Dartmouth College Carnival mass-start 15K classic race at the Oak Hill Outdoor Center. Wist won by nearly 17 seconds.
 
CARNIVAL FACTS

• In the modern history of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA), since the 1994 season, Hege Vethe '98 had been the only Saint Michael's Nordic skier to pick up a win, claiming the 8.8K classic pursuit on Feb. 17, 1996, at the Williams College Carnival.
• Wist becomes the first Purple Knight Nordic man to win a race in the EISA's modern era.
• The men's squad earned its second fourth-place performance in as many days, the best ever by a Saint Michael's men's or women's Nordic squad in the EISA's modern era. The Purple Knights netted 85 points in a field of 11 schools on Saturday, clipping fifth-place Colby College (83) while narrowly trailing third-place University of Vermont (89).
• For the carnival, the men totaled 163 points to finish fourth, trailing Middlebury College by only five points for third.
• Between the Nordic and Alpine teams, Saint Michael's took sixth among 14 schools with 464 points.
• UVM won the carnival with 948 points.
