Pair of Nordic Skiing Trios Capture Seventh During Relays at Williams Carnival

WOODFORD, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College Nordic skiing team's top two relay squads both finished seventh on Saturday during the Williams College Carnival at Prospect Mountain.

CARNIVAL FACTS

The Purple Knights last had a relay finish as high as seventh when Amy Vile '98, Barb Pendl '99 and Amie Rennie '00 took seventh in an unattached 3x5K freestyle relay on Jan. 18, 1998, at the Saint Lawrence University Carnival.
The Purple Knight women scored sixth-place points on Saturday (68), only nine short of fifth-place Dartmouth College. The men were seventh (60), within eight of sixth-place Harvard University.
Between the teams, the Nordic program tallied sixth-place points (128) for the second straight day.
For the weekend, the squads totaled 254 points, also good for sixth. The men (135) and women (119) both took sixth.
Between the Nordic and Alpine teams, Saint Michael's finished sixth among 14 schools with 491.5 points.
The University of Vermont won the carnival with 846.5 points.

WOMEN'S LEADERS

Senior Grace Castonguay (Jackson, N.H./Kennett), first-year Zoe Devine (Ely, Minn./Memorial) and sophomore Clara Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman), 7th in 3x5K freestyle relay, 50:10.1

NEXT SAINT MICHAEL'S EVENT

Friday at Middlebury College Carnival, 10 a.m.
The event also triples as the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championship and NCAA East Regional Championship.
