No. 2 Men's Ice Hockey Loses to No. 3 Southern New Hampshire, 5-1, in NE10 Semifinal

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The second-seeded Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team lost to No. 3 Southern New Hampshire University, 5-1, on Saturday during a Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal in Cairns Arena.

THE ACTION
  • The Penmen held an 18-8 advantage in shots during the first period but were able to get one past Manahan only once. During a power play, first-year Nic Dallaire's shot from the left circle was blocked by a Purple Knight skater, but the puck redirected to Marchant at the right post for a tap-in with 13:28 gone.
  • Amante pushed the lead to 2-0 at 6:51 of the second frame by picking a corner from the right circle during 4-on-4 play. Watson added to the advantage at 16:40, finishing from the slot.
  • McCarthy got one back for the hosts during a third-period power play, picking the close corner from the left circle at 13:53.
  • However, the Penmen scored twice with Manahan pulled for an extra attacker, first when Devlin tallied from the boards at center ice at 16:54 and again on Watson's shot from the blueline with 18:18 gone.
