NORTH HAVEN, Conn. - The regionally-ranked Saint Michael's College men's tennis team returned from a four-month layoff by losing to Division I Quinnipiac University, 7-0, on Saturday evening at North Haven Health & Racquet. The Purple Knights were ninth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll.

- Senior Tristian Du Plessis (Rustenburg, South Africa/Hoërskool Waterkloof/Wallace State CC) and junior Sergio Barroso (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Montpellier) turned in the Purple Knights' closest doubles decision, losing a 6-4 contest at No. 2 to a duo that had beaten a Temple University pair by the same score a day ago.
- Sophomores Simon Lundholm (Le Luc, France/CNED) and Julius van den Broek (Bergschenhoek, The Netherlands/Wolfert Lyceum) were downed in the top spot during their first match together this year, while senior Jackson Moser (Missouri City, Texas/Ridge Point) and first-year Ruben Weijer (Son, Noord-Brabant, The Netherlands/Frits Phillips Lyceum) lost at No. 3 in their debut outing as a tandem.
- Van den Broek won his opening set at No. 5 singles before losing a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 decision in an affair decided by a third-set super tiebreaker.
- Du Plessis lost 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 against a Bobcat who had put up a pair of 6-4 set wins yesterday against Temple, while four other Purple Knights lost. Lundholm made his first career appearance in the second spot, Moser and Barroso each won four games in the third and fourth positions, respectively, and Weijer fell at No. 6.
