Baseball Drops Series Finale at Southern New Hampshire

HOOKSETT, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team wrapped up a three-game weekend series at Southern New Hampshire University with a 16-2 loss on Sunday during Northeast-10 Conference play at Penmen Field. The Penmen received votes toward this week's American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) national poll and were fourth in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region rankings.

  • Duquette moved into 11th in program history in career innings pitched (167.2), logging the fifth-most since the 1940s. He remained 11th in strikeouts (133), recording the third-highest figure since the 1970s.
THE ACTION
  • Gilboy's two-out RBI single gave the Purple Knights a 1-0 edge in the first inning.
  • Wachter's RBI knock and Pisano's swipe of home on a double steal gave the Penmen a 2-1 edge in the home half.
  • Wachter was plunked with the bases loaded in the second before graduate student Jaime Roldan knocked a two-run homer in the third to make it 5-1.
  • Sophomore Sam Cavossa (East Falmouth, Mass./The Winchendon School) plated first-year Jack Pattison (Vernon, Vt./Vermont Academy) on a fifth-inning grounder.
  • Southern New Hampshire pulled away with the final 11 runs, as senior Dylan O'Sullivan provided a two-run single in the sixth before Wachter and Burgos both added two-run doubles in the seventh.
