Women's Tennis Loses NE10 Outing to Southern New Hampshire

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 6-1, on Saturday during Northeast 10 Conference play at the SMC Tennis Courts. In a close contest, the Purple Knights lost the doubles point by virtue of a tiebreaker and saw two singles players fall in three sets.

THE ACTION
  • Larsen and Ricaurte opened doubles play with a 6-4 win at No. 2 before sophomores Annabelle Aldrete (Wichita, Kan./Andover eCademy) and Jedidah Xu (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) narrowly lost a 7-5 decision in the third spot.
  • With the doubles point down to the contest at No. 1, junior Emma Gredenhag (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) and sophomore Lucy McPherson (Vancouver, British Columbia/Magee Secondary School) lost in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4).
  • Larsen leveled the teams thanks to a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.
  • Xu lost 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 and Gredenhag fell by a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 count in the third spot.
  • In the top position, McPherson lost a back-and-forth 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 affair, as the Penmen clinched the win.
  • After the visitors went ahead 5-1, Ricaurte closed the match with a 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-6 loss at No. 6.
