COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country junior
Fran Peterson (Barron, Wis./Barron) was named Northeast 10 Conference Runner of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Â
Peterson placed 20th among 281 NCAA Division I, II and III finishers at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship on Friday, completing the 5K in 18:19.54, the second-fastest time in program history. She was the quickest non-Division I finisher, topping all competitors from such regionally-ranked NE10 squads as Bentley University, Saint Anselm College and Southern New Hampshire University. Her time was the best by a Purple Knight since 2011. After missing the first two races this fall, Peterson placed second at the Purple Knights' Equality Invitational 8K on Sept. 21 before winning the Paul Short Run's "Green" race on Oct. 3 with the fifth-fastest 6K time in program annals.
Â
Saint Michael's returns to action next on Oct. 26, when the NE10 Championship is run at Saint Anselm. The women run at 11 a.m. that day before the men start at 12:15 p.m.
