PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country junior Jersey Miller (Minneapolis, Minn./Saint Louis Park) placed fifth in the State University of New York at Plattsburgh's season-opening 5K Cardinal Classic on Saturday. Both the Purple Knight men and women placed third among nine schools.
 
TEAM RESULTS

• The Purple Knight men were fifth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region poll, while the women stood seventh.
• The women scored 67 points to trail the runner-up Cardinals by 16 points, while Saint Lawrence University won with 17 points. The Saints were ninth in the latest USTFCCCA Division III Mideast Region poll.
• On the men's side, Saint Michael's accumulated 69 points to fall 18 points shy of second-place Clarkson University. Saint Lawrence, which stood seventh in the most recent regional rankings, won with 20 points.
