THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights trailed 12-10 in the opening set before Almeida notched three kills in a 6-0 run that gave her team the lead for good.
- With the visitors clinging to an 18-17 edge in the second set, Patterson dropped a kill before Almeida and Marshall sided for a block to help create separation.
- Pace broke out of a 3-3 tie in set No. 3 on the strength of an 11-4 run. The Purple Knights rallied to within 23-20 before Ackmann turned in a kill and a block assist for the final two points.
- The teams played through 10 fourth-set ties, with the visitors leading 21-20 before the Setters tallied the final five points to force a deciding fifth set.
- Seven more ties and five lead changes ensued in the finale, which saw Saint Michael's ahead 11-7 before Pace went ahead with a 5-0 run. Welch and Almeida's back-to-back kills swung the lead to the visitors' favor before the Setters twice found the tying point. In a 14-14 set, Welch posted a kill before Mediate converted the clinching ace.
