THE ACTION
- Saint Michael's netted the first half's lone goal in the 28th minute. Junior Bia Maluf (Salvador, Bahia, Brazil/High Mowing School/Pace) chipped a pass from the midfield into the left flank for senior Kayleigh Crowell (Beverly, Mass./Beverly), whose centering pass Follansbee lifted over Paton into the right side of the net. It was her second consecutive contest with a goal.
- At 55:42, Gormley one-touched Brookes' cross into the box to double the lead. Senior Faith Kosiba (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable Regional) set up the play by sprinting 20 yards to dispossess a Dominican player near midfield, and sophomore Jules Peterson (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) added the secondary helper by playing a ball into the right corner for Brookes.
- Brookes tallied just 2:02 later, sending a shot from just outside the box on an empty net after she and Gormley had blocked consecutive Charger clearing attempts with Paton out of position.
