Women's Tennis Falls by 4-3 Count to Saint Anselm

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team capped the fall segment of its season with a 4-3 loss to Saint Anselm College during Northeast 10 Conference play on Saturday in the Tarrant Recreation Center.

THE ACTION
  • Gredenhag and Rocha opened doubles play with a 6-2 win in the third spot during their debut outing this year. They improved to 5-0 all-time as a tandem.
  • McPherson and Xu followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 in their first match as partners, providing the Purple Knights the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
  • Larsen and Ricaurte lost a close 7-5 decision in the second position.
  • Larsen's 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles gave the hosts a 2-0 lead before the Hawks won the next three completed matches, including as Gredenhag fell 6-4, 6-2 in the third spot.
  • Ricaurte's 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 knotted the match and brought the final team result down to Xu's No. 4 singles match. Xu captured the opening set but suffered a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 loss in the deciding contest.
