WORCESTER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team lost to Assumption University, 6-1, on Saturday during Northeast 10 Conference action at the Assumption Tennis Courts.

THE ACTION

• Assumption dropped only four games while claiming wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Ricaurte and first-year Olivia Larsen (Riverview, New Brunswick/Riverview) claimed three of those during a loss in the second spot.
• Aldrete and Xu took their contest at No. 3 in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-2). They improved to 5-2 on the season.
• The Greyhounds clinched the win with straight-set victories in each of the top three singles positions, including as sophomore Lucy McPherson (Vancouver, British Columbia/Magee Secondary School) lost a close 6-3, 6-4 contest at No. 1. Larsen fell just 6-4 in her second set at No. 2.
• Ricaurte earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the sixth spot to get the Purple Knights on the board, improving to 6-2.
• Xu was downed 6-0, 3-6, 10-8 in the fourth position, and Aldrete lost at No. 5 but only after falling 7-5 in her second set.
