Women's Basketball Loses Season Opener to 22nd-Ranked Holy Family

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team opened the season with a 71-55 loss to 22nd-ranked Holy Family University on Saturday during the Women's Basketball Conference Challenge in the College of Staten Island's Sports & Recreation Center. The Tigers finished as the 2025 NCAA East Regional Championship runner-up and were ranked in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) preseason national poll.

THE ACTION
  • The Tigers scored the first eight points en route to leading 20-6 in the final minute of the first quarter, and 40-17 in the opening minute of the third stanza.
  • Brophy scored six points during a 7-0 spurt that trimmed the deficit to 15 shortly thereafter.
  • Montplaisir's jumper got the Purple Knights within 63-53 at 2:50 of the fourth quarter, but they came no closer. In all, Saint Michael's outscored Holy Family, 38-33, during the second half.
