Women's Ice Hockey Opens NEWHA Weekend at Franklin Pierce with 2-0 Loss

WINCHENDON, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a weekend New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) series with a 2-0 loss against Franklin Pierce University on Friday afternoon in The Winchendon School's Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

THE ACTION
  • The Ravens went ahead at 12:54 of the first period, as Dean punched home a rebound out front after Lavender sprawled to deny first-year Mariana Valeri's initial shot.
  • With 47.7 seconds to go in the second, Andre roofed a shot from outside the crease to double the lead during a 4-on-3 power play after taking sophomore Caleigh Murphy's drop pass.
  • Both teams went scoreless on a pair of power plays in the third period, during which Lavender made 15 saves. With the netminder pulled for the final 1:34, the Purple Knights put five shots on net, but Eno denied them all.
