  • Five of the past seven contests between the teams have now been one-goal affairs.

THE ACTION
  • With 4:53 gone in the opening period, Lavender slid across the crease to paddle away Babington's one-timer from the left circle.
  • LeBlanc put Saint Michael's ahead at 15:47, slipping a shot inside the right post from the right circle after Gratton had chipped forward a loose puck.
  • Babington tied the game 4:57 into the second period, redirecting a pass from first-year Crosby Wildfong while standing directly in front of Lavender.
  • Lavender maintained the tie at 16:52 with a pad save of junior Ryane Kearns' point-blank backhanded bid.
  • Three stellar third-period stops by Lavender kept LIU off the board, first as she rejected junior Anya Weilandt's good look from the right circle with her blocker at 1:29 before making consecutive saves around the midway point, securing another blocker stop of Culp and going into a split for a skate save of senior Bri Eid on the follow-up.
  • Senior Angelina Ruiz (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) saw a backhanded bid from deep in the slot turned away by Thompson with 45 seconds left, and the teams headed to a 3-on-3 overtime for the second straight day.
  • After LeBlanc won the opening faceoff in the extra period and the Purple Knights possessed for the better part of the first minute, Culp gathered the puck just outside the blue line before skating through the left circle and tucking a shot inside the close post with 49 seconds gone.
