Women's Basketball's Big Second Half Keys Victory at Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team outscored Franklin Pierce University by 22 points in the second half en route to a 67-45 Northeast-10 Conference victory on Saturday at the FPU Fieldhouse.

THE ACTION
  • Macary's jumper gave Franklin Pierce a 14-8 edge at 3:08 of the opening stanza, the first of two six-point leads in the period, but Saint Michael's later used a 16-5 run to lead 26-21 on Blake's three-pointer at 6:22 of the second.
  • That proved to be the largest lead by either team in the quarter, and graduate student Janessa Gonzalez hit a jumper with 1:24 left to send the teams into the locker room tied at 28.
  • Franchi's triple 39 seconds into the third quarter gave Saint Michael's the lead for good, and Tyler's pair of free throws with 13 seconds left capped a 9-2 run that provided her team a 47-36 lead.
  • Mulderig's jumper at 8:17 of the fourth had the Ravens within 49-40, but Santos' jumper 52 seconds later sparked an 8-0 run. The Purple Knights led by as many as 23 points down the stretch, on Montplaisir's jumper with 58 seconds left.
