Women's Lacrosse Loses NE10 Opener to Southern Connecticut State, 13-12

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team was trimmed in its Northeast-10 Conference opener by Southern Connecticut State University, 13-12, on Saturday at a frigid Duffy Field.

  • The teams played to a decision determined by two goals or fewer for the seventh time in their last nine meetings, with three settled by a single tally.
THE ACTION
  • Fisher scored once and added an assist during a 3-0 run that gave the Owls a 4-2 lead by 6:39 of the first quarter.
  • Conover tallied twice in a 5-0 response that provided the hosts a 7-4 lead, but Palmer scored twice in a 4-0 counter. Fisher's goal 48 seconds into the second half made it 8-7 in favor of the Owls.
  • Hamilton found the net at 5:38 of the third quarter to finalize a 3-0 run and help Saint Michael's lead 10-8.
  • Three Owls scored in a 3-0 response, but fourth-quarter goals by Adams (8:18) and Lynch (5:59) staked the hosts to a late 12-11 lead.
  • McDermott scored a woman-down strike at 4:38 to tie the game, but Dickerson made three saves in the final two minutes to help maintain the deadlock.
  • In a tie game, the Purple Knights committed a turnover in their own end with 16 seconds left, and Palmer scored the game-winner on a free-position shot at five ticks. The visitors won the ensuing draw.
