Softball Sweeps AIC Behind Historic Scoring Outburst

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College softball team swept American International College, 10-8 and 17-3 in five innings, during a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader on Sunday at Doc Jacobs Field. With the contests originally scheduled to be play at AIC, the Yellow Jackets served as the home team.

RECORDS
  • Saint Michael's (10-13-1, 4-6 NE10), AIC (8-14, 4-8 NE10)
DOUBLEHEADER FACTS
  • First-year Maddy Eaton (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) picked up both wins.
  • Senior Jenna Devens (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) homered in each end of the twinbill.
  • First-year Ella Nickerson (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) knocked her first college home run in the nightcap, when she came within a single of hitting for the cycle.
  • Senior Kiera Parker (Weymouth, Mass./Framingham/Stevenson) picked up her first college hit in game two in her third career at bat.
  • The Purple Knights' 17 runs in the second contest were their most since plating 19 against Champlain College on April 30, 1979. The run count was their highest ever against an NE10 team, as the Purple and Gold had only previously scored as many as 15 runs twice since the program was resurrected in 1990.
  • Saint Michael's ran its winning streak over AIC to seven games, and its home winning streak over the Yellow Jackets to eight contests.
