Bishop's Walk-Off Single Delivers Softball 3-2 Victory Over Franklin Pierce

COLCHESTER, Vt. - First-year Brooke Bishop (Florida, Mass./Drury) delivered a walk-off RBI single in a 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce University during the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader on Monday at Doc Jacobs Field. Despite junior CJ Davidson's (Canyon Lake, Calif./Vista Murrieta) pair of home runs, the Purple Knights lost a 15-5 decision in five innings during the opener. She earned the win in the nightcap.

THE ACTION
  • Davidson launched her first home run, a two-run shot after Edgerly led off with a single, to make it 2-0 in the first inning.
  • The Ravens countered with four runs in the second, tying the game on Erikson's two-run double and going ahead on Galindo's bases-loaded walk.
  • Nickerson tied the game with a two-run double in the home half.
  • Franklin Pierce went ahead and pulled away with nine runs on seven hits in the fourth inning. Six Ravens drove in runs.

THE ACTION
  • Williams' two-out RBI double put the Ravens on the board in the first inning.
  • Bishop's fielder's choice grounder scored first-year Emma Nordahl (Holden, Mass./Saint Paul Diocesan Junior-Senior) in the third inning before Edgerly raced home on an infield error on the play.
  • Ellis tied the game with a fourth-inning RBI double.
  • Edgerly led off the seventh inning by slashing a single through the left side to complete an eight-pitch at bat, which featured four foul balls. Davidson kept the rally going by finishing an 11-pitch at bat during which she fouled off eight pitches by dropping a single off the right field line. Devens followed with a fielder's choice that led to an infield error, loading the bases with no one out. Bishop fouled off a pair of pitches after getting behind 0-2 before fisting an opposite-field single into right field to plate Edgerly with the winning run.
